Award-winning Taiwanese film editor Hoping Chen has been brought on board as the editor for director Anthony Chen's highly anticipated feature film, "We Are All Strangers." This announcement solidifies a key creative partnership, as Hoping Chen has been a consistent and vital collaborator throughout Anthony Chen's acclaimed filmography.
Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, and now based in London, Chen is a highly respected film editor known for her meticulous craft and profound understanding of cinematic storytelling. Before specializing in editing, she gained valuable experience as a documentary director and producer, as well as working on drama series in Taiwan. This diverse background has given her a comprehensive understanding of the filmmaking process, from script development to final cut. Her talent was recently recognized with a Golden Horse Award for Best Film Editing for "Bel Ami" (2024).
Chen's involvement in "We Are All Strangers" marks a continuation of her deep and successful collaboration with Anthony Chen. She has edited all of his previous feature films, including his Camera d'Or-winning debut "Ilo Ilo" (2013), the critically acclaimed "Wet Season" (2019), his English-language debut "Drift" (2023), and his Mainland Chinese feature "The Breaking Ice" (2023). This long-standing partnership is a testament to their shared artistic vision and her indispensable role in shaping the final narrative and emotional impact of his works.
